Consultants brief commission on comprehensive plan update; SWOT input due April 24 and community survey planned

Consultants Nichole Wiley and Ted Foglietta of Wallace Montgomery updated the Planning Commission on the town’s Comprehensive Plan process. Wiley said a senior project manager on the consultant team departed the firm but that responsibilities will be absorbed by existing staff and the change will not affect schedule or quality.
Wiley introduced the next phase: a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis to guide development of targeted questions for a public community survey. Commissioners were asked to submit town-perspective feedback by April 24, 2026; the consulting team will review submissions and present findings on May 11, 2026.
The consultants outlined outreach plans for the survey — which is expected to launch in late spring or early summer and remain open for about 30 days — including QR codes and web links, paper copies, social media, in-person outreach at community events such as First Fridays, and targeted outreach to key stakeholders and potentially local schools. Wiley said survey results will be analyzed to distinguish resident from non‑resident input and will inform subsequent chapters and planning strategies.
Next steps: staff and commissioners to submit SWOT inputs by April 24; consultants to prepare draft survey questions and present preliminary findings at the May 11 commission meeting.
