Historic Port Royal Foundation announces new museum site, asks for fundraising support

At the June 10 council meeting, Marcy Roy spoke for the Historic Port Royal Foundation about plans to relocate the foundation’s museum and visitor center to a town-identified building at 1800 Paris Avenue.
"My name is Marcy Roy, and I'm representing Historic Port Royal Foundation," she told council, describing the foundation’s volunteer operations and its goal to convert the new building into a community-oriented museum and visitor center. Roy said the town will cover rent and utilities for the foundation’s space while the foundation must raise additional funds to renovate its portion of the building, make it ADA compliant and add signage to attract visitors.
Roy described proposed renovations — raising ceilings, removing walls to increase visible floor area, upgrading lighting and security, and adding a porch and signage facing the highway to direct visitors into Port Royal. She said the foundation will hold fundraising events including a "Hell of a Party" on June 27, with bands and a silent auction, and will distribute QR codes to encourage membership and donations.
Council members praised the volunteers and the foundation, noting the move will improve the museum’s visibility and help the visitor experience. The foundation sought community fundraising support to complete renovation work and reach ADA and code compliance.
