Louisa County supervisors approve routine resolutions on meetings, road authority and banking depositories

The Louisa County Board of Supervisors met Jan. 2 and unanimously approved a package of routine resolutions and appointments, including rules for meeting schedules and claims payment, banking depositories and several delegations of authority to the County Engineer.
The board approved Resolution No. 202501, which sets the Board’s regular meeting schedule (Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m.–noon and the first and third Tuesdays for allowing claims), filing deadlines for claims, and limited authorizations for the county auditor to pay certain claims. The resolution was adopted with AYES recorded for Shawn Maine, Kevin Hardin and Scot Hunt.
Supervisors approved Resolution No. 202508 naming county depositories and maximum deposit amounts for county officers. The resolution lists institutions and maximums, for example Washington State Bank (Columbus Junction) with a $5,000,000 maximum and Mediapolis Savings Bank (Wapello) with a $10,000,000 maximum for certain treasurer deposits, with other officer-specific maximums set in the resolution.
The board also approved several resolutions delegating authority to the County Engineer, Adam Shutt. Resolution No. 202502 designates the County Engineer to execute certifications of completion and final acceptance for Farm‑to‑Market and state or federal aid construction projects on the county’s behalf. Resolution No. 202503 authorizes the County Engineer to close secondary roads or portions of them in emergency situations (closures must be confirmed by the Board at its next regular meeting). Resolution No. 202505 authorizes the County Engineer to sign for and collect Federal Disaster Relief funds on behalf of the county for secondary road or bridge damage.
Other routine business included approving a payroll change for Jailer Skyler Patrick to $22.95 per hour effective Jan. 16, 2025; authorizing the chair to sign the county’s current Safety Manual; approval of the 2025–2026 county holiday schedule; and reappointment of Marsha Gerot to the Conesville Benefitted Fire board. The board also approved Resolution No. 202507 recommending Kevin Hardin to serve on the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission (SEIRPC) Board of Directors.
All votes on the listed resolutions were recorded AYE by Shawn Maine, Kevin Hardin and Scot Hunt where recorded. The meeting adjourned at 9:14 a.m.
