Board approves consent agenda, ratifies contracts and greenlights weapons-detection pilot at two schools

Board members voted to adopt the consent agenda by voice vote after discussing that the originally proposed pilot at Easton High School should be expanded for parity to include Saint Michael’s Middle/High School. A board member said the board would earmark leftover nonrecurring funds from a $400,000 line to support the pilot and potential future units.
A representative speaking in support of contract ratification thanked the negotiating teams, board and teachers for their work toward a negotiated agreement for both support and certified staff. The ratification of those negotiated agreements was carried as part of the consent package.
The chair then sought approval of the personnel report as presented in closed session; a motion was made and seconded and the personnel report was approved with an abstention recorded on the transcript. The meeting minutes and the consent package were recorded as passed on voice votes; the transcript does not list roll-call tallies.
Board members said they will review a December report (referenced in prior work sessions) to inform longer-term decisions about deployment of weapons-detection equipment, and the board asked staff to coordinate with law enforcement and school leadership during any pilot implementation.
The board also moved forward with routine consent items including the FY27 budget timeline, the educational facilities master plan and the virtual instruction day plan.
