Mount Kisco Architectural Review Board approves façade replacement for fire‑damaged Tai residence and OKs awnings at 10 Dakin

At its Jan. 21 meeting, the Mount Kisco Architectural Review Board unanimously approved plans to replace the fire‑damaged front façade of the Tai residence at 37 Carlton Drive with a thin stone veneer and approved new awnings for the property at 10 Dakin Avenue. The board deferred action on meeting minutes from Nov. 19 and Dec. 17 to its next session.
Johnathan Merheb, P.E., of JMER Engineering, appearing on behalf of homeowners Vivian and Chris Tai, told the board that exterior wall framing at the garage and the first and second floors would be removed and replaced, and that thin stone veneer would be installed on the repaired façade. Merheb said matching brick could not be obtained and that a Dutch‑blend stone sample was provided as the closest available match. The proposal also included interior framing work in the first‑floor dining room and bathroom, second‑floor window revisions and electrical and lighting revisions in the basement and on the first and second floors. Andy Gonzalez moved to approve the application (Case ARB25‑40); Nicholas Bagley seconded and the motion carried by voice vote with all members present voting in favor.
William Moussa appeared to present awnings proposed for his property at 10 Dakin Avenue and provided renderings and details showing materials, color, location and dimensions. Nicholas Bagley moved to approve the awnings application (Case ARB26‑1); Andy Gonzalez seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The board reported no conceptual cases and recorded no correspondence. Approval of the Nov. 19, 2025 meeting minutes was postponed because there were not enough board members from that meeting present to vote; the Dec. 17, 2025 minutes were not provided and both will be placed on the next agenda. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
