The consent agenda also included several disposals of outdated instructional materials, including middle-school flex materials, Fountas & Pinnell reading materials, middle-school ESL textbooks and high-school English texts. Superintendent (title provided in the transcript) said the district plans to recycle or sell the items locally when possible and only move to other disposal options if sale or recycling is not feasible: “We are looking to recycle these things. We’re looking to sell them at a reduced cost to other institutions locally,” the superintendent said.
Votes were recorded by roll call as the board handled each item; the meeting record shows affirmative votes on each listed consent item and the purchases. The board’s finance and curriculum committees had considered many of these items in earlier meetings; the curriculum committee’s report included enrollment figures of 11,692 students for the district and listed the i-Ready assessment platform as an approved purchase for the coming year.
