She listed high priorities identified in the review — air conditioning for vulnerable populations during heat events and the transfer/administration of a liquor license — and said the consultant did not recommend a cafe but the council could direct staff to issue an RFP if it wished to pursue one.
Vice Mayor Gary Peterson said he supported moving the process along and asked staff to ensure progress. Chamber representatives and other community members expressed support for the Foundry and for timely implementation of recommendations. HVAC professional Scott Whalen recommended a consultant‑led concept stage and ventilation as a first priority rather than immediate design‑build.
After public comment and discussion, the council moved to approve a list of events for city sponsorship at the Miners Foundry and to authorize funds to reimburse the Foundry enterprise fund; the motion passed by roll call. Council asked staff to return with the final report and options for any RFPs and grant opportunities tied to facility improvements.
