Library board, director report book sale, ADA updates and expansion design talks with UW faculty

The Village of Black Earth Board heard library updates on April 8: Friends of the Library will hold a book sale in April and an integrated library system rollout is scheduled for later in the month. Library Director Carla Huston said expansion subcommittees have begun meeting and one subgroup met with University of Wisconsin civil engineering professors to discuss design options for an expansion.
Nathan Cavanagh reported for the Library Board that the Friends’ book sale is planned for next week and an Arts and Craft Swap follows. Carla Huston said the expansion committee has formed subcommittees; the VFW has expressed interest in joining the expansion committee and the board will review budget impacts during a June budget review. Huston also said staff are looking to replace some library furniture to improve ADA compliance.
Board members did not take formal action on the expansion during the meeting; updates were informational. The board anticipates budget review in June and further committee work prior to any binding decision on design or construction.
