Dania Beach CRA reports home-repair progress, Patch garden output and volunteers

The Dania Beach CRA on July 7 reported progress on several community programs that provide home repairs, gardens and volunteer opportunities.
Candido Solser Cruz, executive director of the Dania Beach CRA, told the board that Rebuilding Together under the home-beautification program has completed five homes, with seven more lined up for service and six currently being vetted. "Under the safe at home program, 45 homes have been completed. Remember, our goal is 50 homes by the end of this fiscal year," Cruz said.
Cruz also reported on The Patch community garden: staff and volunteers produced more than 226 pounds of fruits and vegetables last month; unsold produce was donated to Saratoga Crossing senior housing. He said The Patch hosted 73 campers for a summer program and recorded 60 volunteers assisting site work.
Upcoming Patch activities include a farmers market on Saturday, July 11; a veggies-and-herbs tasting and garden tour on Saturday, July 18; and another farmers market on Saturday, July 25. Cruz announced a resident engagement meeting on Thursday, July 9 at 6 p.m. at Frost Park Community Center (300 NE 3rd Street).
These items were presented as administrative information during the meeting; no formal board action was required. The board approved the consent agenda later in the evening and adjourned.
