Dawson County commissioners approve $309,404.91 in claims, bank collateral and liquor licenses; authorize emergency grant submission

The Dawson County Board of Commissioners on July 15 unanimously approved routine financial business, including filing and approving receipts and paying $309,404.91 in claims across county funds.
Commissioners voted to file the Official’s Receipts and to approve the Treasurer’s Receipts, which the minutes list at $772,025.45. The full claims list given to the board showed $140,636.29 in general fund vendor claims and $80,469.28 in road fund claims, with additional payments across visitors promotion, visitors development, county insurance, and other funds for a combined total of $309,404.91. The board approved the claims on a motion by Commissioner PJ Jacobson, seconded by Commissioner Everett Hagan, with all five members voting aye (Jacobson, Kugler, Stewart, Hagan, Rickertsen).
The board approved Resolution #2020-22 to accept an additional $100,000 of pledged collateral from Waypoint Bank (Cozad). Commissioner E. Dean Kugler moved the resolution and Commissioner Everett Hagan seconded; the vote was unanimous.
On separate votes the board approved two Special Designated Liquor Licenses: one presented by the Elks BPO Cozad Lodge and another presented by O and K Bottle Shop (re/ Re/Max Home, Farm & Ranch). Both motions carried unanimously.
The board also authorized Emergency Manager Brian Woldt to submit the 2020 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG). The motion to authorize Woldt’s submission was made by Commissioner Everett Hagan and seconded by Commissioner Bill Stewart; all commissioners voted yes.
Sheriff Ken Moody provided the Distress Warrant Report during the meeting, listing total warrants of $29,206.59 with $23,963.39 collected and $5,620.47 outstanding; the report was received by the board. There were no citizen comments during the public comment period.
The meeting adjourned at 8:57 a.m. and the County Clerk certified the minutes.
