Dewey Beach committee votes to submit revised packet for Aug. 15 commissioners27 meeting

The Dewey Beach advisory committee voted unanimously to submit a revised packet and supporting materials to the town for consideration at the commissioners' meeting scheduled for Aug. 15 at 3 p.m. Chair opened the action item and explained the version labeled "Draft 3" in the PDF had a formatting error that removed leading letters from some words; the committee agreed the file would be corrected before submission.

Gary, who the committee said will present the packet to the commissioners, told members the substance of the materials "seems appropriate" but that funding will be an important factor for the commission to weigh. "Looking for funding is going to be a big thing too," he said, adding that the committee should seek reaction from the full commission about whether the project is appropriate to pursue.

The committee voted to revise the draft (remove the "Draft 3" label and restore the missing letters) and submit the packet and attachments so the item can be circulated in advance of the Aug. 15 meeting. The motion to submit was moved, seconded and adopted unanimously.

Why it matters: Submitting the packet places the proposal on the commissioners' agenda and begins a public review process that will test support and funding options. Committee members said they will continue to refine materials and may offer in-person comment at the commissioners' meeting if new information arises before Aug. 15.

Next steps: Gary will present the packet to the commissioners and committee members were encouraged to offer comments before the packet circulates the week prior to the meeting. The committee will reconvene to review any feedback from the town.
