A fire department representative told the board that the staffing increase — recently approved by trustees and Village Manager Anderson — ‘‘represents a significant milestone for our organization and demonstrates the Village’s commitment to public safety.’’ The representative said Krumick joined the Barrington Fire Department the same day after three years with the Richmond Fire District and that he is a nationally registered paramedic and certified firefighter.
The representative said Krumick ‘‘will be assigned to a 24‑hour shift’’ and has begun orientation. Family members Anne (mother), Steve (father) and Shane (brother) were invited forward and recognized during the ceremony.
Presiding officer President Mike Moran administered the oath of office; Krumick repeated the pledge to support the constitutions of the United States and the state of Illinois and to faithfully discharge the duties of a firefighter‑paramedic.
Trustees and department leaders offered congratulations and noted the additional staffing is intended to improve response capabilities as call volumes increase. There was no formal vote attached to the swearing‑in itself; the change in staffing was referenced as recently approved by the board.
