Richmond council approves midyear amendment to FY2025-26 budget

The Richmond City Council approved a midyear amendment to the city’s FY2025–26 budget on May 26, authorizing changes to revenues and expenses that city staff said were necessary to reflect unanticipated items and updated project activity.
City Administrator Tonya Willim told the council the amendment is meant to account for items that were not originally budgeted, expenses that have exceeded initial estimates and other adjustments tied to operational needs. The amendment would modify Ordinance No. 2680 for the current fiscal year.
Councilor June Paige moved that the ordinance be read once and a second time by title only; the motion carried. City Clerk Saige Mason read the title twice, and Councilor Bob Bond moved final approval, seconded by Councilor Barb Hardwick. On a roll-call vote the council recorded six ayes (Bond, Hardwick, Paige, Guy, Williams and Brash) and no nays. Bill No. 26-12 was approved 6-0.
The amendment will be applied to the current fiscal year records and will be used to guide adjustments to departmental allocations and project accounting as staff complete year-end reconciliations and FY2027 planning.
