The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution on Feb. 24 designating an area of the county as appropriate for urban renewal projects and adopting the 2026 amendment to the Grow Woodbury County urban renewal plan. The board opened and closed a public hearing on the amendment after receiving no comments and then approved the resolution by voice vote, 4-0.
Chair (speaker 1) described the resolution as determining an area to be an economic development area and outlining rehabilitation, conservation and redevelopment that the amendment would permit. The item was moved and seconded and passed without discussion or public testimony.
Why it matters: adopting the amendment allows the county to use urban-renewal tools in the designated area for projects that the amendment lists as necessary in the public interest, including redevelopment and conservation actions.
The board took the action by unanimous voice vote and will follow administrative steps to implement the amended urban-renewal plan.
