Town staff said Levesque submitted a letter of interest and was interviewed by a panel that included board members and staff. Supporters praised his responsiveness and communication with the board during recent months. “I’ve been very impressed every time I’ve asked you for information regarding operations at the fire department,” a Select Board member told Levesque before the vote.
The board also discussed the process for appointing volunteer assistant chiefs. Staff recommended drafting a job description, forming a selection committee composed of two Select Board members, the chief and town staff, soliciting written applications and interviewing candidates with firefighter feedback. The board designated Adam Wood and Caitlin Filkins as the Select Board representatives on the search committee; Adam abstained from a roll‑call on the designation and the remainder of the board approved the assignments.
The board encouraged continued open communication between the new chief and the Select Board and invited outreach to the department for tours and informal engagement.
