Nederland — The council unanimously approved Resolution 2026-09 (by motion) ratifying agreements with Energy Transfer/Nederland Terminal LLC concerning closure and remediation of the city’s former police shooting range and arrangements to provide shooting-range membership for Nederland Police Department training.
Legal counsel summarized a long-running series of negotiations and amendments dating to the sale of more than 800 acres to Energy Transfer. The amendments addressed timing and financial responsibilities for removal and restoration of the range property and provided an alternate training path for police officers. The council voted in favor of authorizing the city manager to execute closing documents, including the third and fourth amendments to the underlying agreements.
Mayor and staff said the action marks progress on a multiyear set of outstanding obligations arising from the 2023 sale and related ancillary agreements. The resolution passed unanimously, and staff said additional Energy Transfer-related matters remain on the city’s work list.
