Commission places executive director performance review on ‘under review’ for timing and form updates

Commissioner Skinner asked during the July 8 agenda-setting meeting that the Massachusetts Gaming Commission add the executive director's annual performance review to the 'under review' list so the review could be discussed and scheduled.
Skinner said the ED review is annual and suggested syncing the commission's review with the rest of the agency. "I think that we should probably add the ED's performance review to under review whether it's now or in the next couple of weeks," Skinner said.
Commissioner O'Brien and others agreed the commission should distribute the updated form and allow members to propose changes before finalizing the review schedule. Director Vanderlinden told commissioners the agency has not yet announced dates for staff reviews and that the questionnaire is being revised to be simpler; Vanderlinden said staff would provide an update once dates are set.
Commissioners agreed to place the ED form review on the under-review list and to continue the conversation offline to coordinate timing with appointing authorities and the rest of the agency. The commission did not take further formal action on the ED review at the meeting.
