Crawford Partnership reports 55 new business leads and two city-specific RFIs in Q2

McKenna Lacer, executive director of the Crawford Partnership, told the city council she had submitted the partnership's Q2 report and walked members through economic-development activity for the quarter. "We had 55 new business leads generated over the course of this quarter," Lacer said, and added that the partnership received 19 requests for information from prospective businesses.
Lacer said two of those RFIs had available properties that could be competed for and that one of those RFIs was specific to the city of Bucyrus. "So just so you have that information, we do have 1 RFI that we responded to this quarter that is specific to the city," she said.
The partnership reported nine business retention and expansion visits during the quarter and said it had awarded workforce-ready internship grants to Bucyrus Copper Kettle Works and Driven Excavating of Crestline. Those employers will be reimbursed up to $5,000 for intern wages through a fund hosted with the community foundation, Lacer said.
Lacer also announced staffing changes and programming: Crystal Dean joined as workforce development manager, the team conducted site visits as part of the RFI process and the partnership is building a scholarship fund with the community foundation honoring the organization's first executive director. On TechCred, the state reimbursement program for short-term technology credentials, Lacer said funding remained unresolved and she expected clarity in a future quarter.
The presentation closed with an offer to take questions; councilors asked about whether any leads were data centers and Lacer replied they were not. The report was received and will be available to council as part of the record.
