The Laconia City Council approved multiple appointments and reappointments to city boards and commissions as recommended by the appointments subcommittee.
Among the actions taken, the council appointed Patrick Wood as a regular member of the Laconia Human Relations Committee and reappointed Dave Ouellette to the planning board for a three-year term. The council also named alternates for the planning board and reappointed members to the historic district commission, licensing board and the Putnam Fund. Several councilors requested that appointments be voted individually rather than in a block to maintain transparency.
Why it matters: Filling seats on boards and commissions ensures continuity for planning, historic preservation and regulatory review and maintains the capacity of advisory bodies that feed recommendations to the council.
What’s next: Appointees will assume their roles for the terms stated and the council noted openings (for example, the water commission vacancy); staff will post vacancies and application instructions.
