The board approved a three‑year agreement with the District Administrators Association (DAA). Administration characterized the contract as collaborative and student‑focused. A walk‑on commenter who identified themself as the unit president thanked the negotiating teams for a process that respected staff and will help the district attract applicants.
On personnel, the board approved professional personnel item 8.05 by roll call, which included appointing Ashley Martinez as an assistant principal at Hendrick Lutzow Middle School. Martinez addressed the board briefly and said she looks forward to serving the district.
The board also accepted two donations: $150 to the Barber Cats and Science Scholarship Fund for partial summer camp funding for students with significant disabilities, and $448.50 from the Hendrick Hudson Community Education Foundation to purchase kindergarten‑orientation books; total donations approved were $598.50.
On policy matters, the board held first readings of a revised Code of Conduct (policy 5300) that clarifies references to procedures for students with disabilities, updates language around visitors and internet‑enabled devices, and cross‑references related district policies. The board also conducted first readings for a proposed policy to allow optional 1st and 2nd vice presidents (2220), a data privacy/security policy (8635), a co‑curricular/extracurricular policy (5200) and a student organizations policy (5210). The board waived and retired several older policies (including defibrillator policy 5690 and policy 5191 on students with HIV‑related illness) as part of the policy alignment process.
On discipline, the board considered and denied a parents’ appeal of a superintendent‑level suspension for student ID 54470 and directed the district clerk to notify the family in writing. No further action was taken on that matter publicly at the meeting.
