Council appoints Jimmy Hughes to standing committee

Councilwoman Anita Davis nominated Councilman Jimmy Hughes to her slot on the standing committee; the nomination was seconded, nominations closed and Hughes was appointed by a roll-call vote of yeas 6, nays none.
At the close of the Dec. 17 meeting, Councilwoman Anita Davis said she would step down from her position on the standing committee and nominated Councilman Jimmy Hughes to replace her. Councilman Julius Oliver seconded the nomination.
President Tom Hetrick announced the motion and Councilman Mike Ray moved to close nominations; Oliver seconded the motion. Clerk Marrow called the roll, which resulted in a vote of yeas 6, nays none, and Hetrick announced that Hughes has been appointed to the standing committee.
Councilwoman Davis then made a motion to adjourn, which Councilman Ray seconded; the council adjourned. The minutes were approved and signed with an approval date of Jan. 7, 2026.
