Students presented their fundraising progress and learning goals for a planned June 2026 trip to Peru, and the board approved moving forward with the trip.
S14 introduced the students and described itinerary planning; three students (S15 Harper, S16 Morgan, S17 Kylie) told the board about fundraising activities — including a 50/50 raffle and an egg-your-yard Easter fundraiser — and said many participants had covered costs through fundraising and family contributions. “We did the raffle at the night shows at the fair… we made a lot of that,” said S15, summarizing fundraising success.
Board members asked about total cost and how much students had raised. S8 and students estimated roughly $5,000 per person; S16 said some participants had their costs fully covered through fundraising and family support. The teacher also requested permission to hold a parent interest meeting about a proposed Costa Rica trip for June 2028; the board granted permission to present and proceed with parent outreach.
A motion to approve the Peru trip for planning and fundraising purposes was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The board emphasized standard requirements — background checks and official trip paperwork — and thanked the students for their fundraising work.
The board took no action that evening to approve Costa Rica travel beyond giving the teacher permission to hold a parent information meeting.
