Urban Forestry Board to tour Menomonie plantings July 15, replacing indoor meeting

The Menomonie Urban Forestry Board voted June 17 to replace its July indoor meeting with a site tour of city planting and landscape work on July 15, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Phelan Park.
Board member Keith Gilland moved to hold an outdoor field trip in lieu of the regular meeting; Naomi Cummings seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Board members and interested community members will meet at Phelan Park at 1:00 p.m., then proceed to Legacy Tree planting locations on 12th Ave W. If time permits the group will visit the Galloway Project Area (corner of 4th St and 16th Ave), previous Arbor Day planting locations and Riverside Park.
The board described the field trip as an opportunity to see Urban Forestry practices and completed landscapes in person rather than discussing them indoors. The July session will have an abbreviated agenda with an open and adjournment at the outdoor location.
The board listed field-trip status on the August agenda (weather permitting) and asked staff to include updates on logistics and any changes to the itinerary.
