The Menomonie Urban Forestry Board voted June 17 to accept editorial revisions to its draft Welcome Packet and to post the finalized version to the city website once the Board signs off.
Chair Liz Usborne moved to accept the edits and to post the finalized packet; Monika Herrmann seconded the motion and the board approved it. Board members asked specific wording changes, requesting that the draft "Change 'man' to 'humans', include 'insects' and 'bees' as wildlife benefiting from the habitat, and update new member requirements to state that candidates should show a real commitment to or interest in the City of Menomonie’s present and future Urban Forestry." Megen Hines will email the final version to board members after those edits are integrated.
The packet is intended as an outreach and orientation tool for prospective members and community volunteers. Board members said the edits aim to broaden habitat descriptions and clarify the qualities the board seeks in new volunteers. The finalized packet will be posted to the City of Menomonie website once the Board completes its approval steps.
The board listed the Welcome Packet finalization for the August agenda, where members may move to formally adopt the document if edits are satisfactory.
