The Froid Town Council on Jan. 20 approved three routine motions: adoption of the Dec. 9, 2024 minutes, payment of January claims and purchase of two trees for the town’s Arbor Day observance.
Mayor Sheri Crain called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the council voted to approve the minutes as read after Council Member Gregg Labatte moved for approval and Laurie Young seconded. Later in the meeting, Tyler Harris moved to pay the January claims; Gale Strandlund seconded and the motion carried. The council also voted to buy two trees from Prairie Winds Nursery at $230 per tree and approved an Arbor Day proclamation setting the tree-planting celebration for May 14, 2025; Laurie Young seconded the tree-purchase motion and it carried.
The council discussed using the town’s eligibility for a $350 Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) grant to offset tree costs. Council did not specify how grant funds will be applied; the motion approved purchase of two trees now at the quoted price. No vote tallies beyond the listed movers and seconders were recorded in the minutes.
