SHARYLAND ISD reports preliminary spring 2026 student-performance gains and declines

SHARYLAND ISD presented preliminary spring 2026 student-performance data to the board on June 22. Annette Harvin, the district’s Chief Instruction Officer, summarized STAAR and EOC comparisons showing the district performing above state and regional averages in reading/language arts overall, while math results contained some declines in certain grades.
“As you’ll be able to see that in every category, we were above the state and region for reading language arts,” Harvin said, describing the district’s comparative performance. She noted the math picture is mixed — third- and fourth-grade math were roughly on par with state averages while some grades (notably fifth and seventh in the report) showed slight declines — and highlighted biology and U.S. history among areas with gains.
Harvin emphasized the data are preliminary and not cohort-based (the same students are not tracked year-to-year in the preliminary slides). The administration said it will update the longitudinal data once summer and final submissions are complete in July.
