The SHARYLAND ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on June 22 to approve the district’s 2026–27 compensation plan, which includes a 2% salary increase and an amendment to provide a one-time $1,000 payment to teachers who lose previously paid math or science stipends.
Trustees discussed options and then amended the main motion. “I move to amend the motion to include a one time payment of 1000 dollars to teachers impacted by the discontinuation of the math and science stipend for 26–27,” a trustee stated during the meeting. Board members clarified the one-time payment is in addition to the base salary adjustment and is intended to offset stipend discontinuations for affected educators.
Board members emphasized they prioritized sustainable salary increases that feed into retirement systems rather than temporary payments. After debate and clarification on the structure of the increase, the board voted 6–0 to approve the amended compensation plan.
The vote finalizes salary policy for the coming fiscal year; staff will implement payroll changes and communicate the one-time payment eligibility to impacted teachers.
