Three new SAFER firefighters sworn in at Cambria CSD meeting

The Cambria Community Services District on March 12 formally badged and swore in three members of its fire department.
Chief Berkey introduced the new SAFER firefighters — Ethan Kumbleitz, Cole Birkenfeld and Henry Wright — and read short biographies that included lifeguard and wildland experience, academy training and local ties. Berkey administered the oath of office required for public-safety personnel under California Government Code section 3102 and asked family members to join the firefighters during the badging.
Addressing the new badge-holders, the chief told them the badge represents community trust and urged them to uphold that trust. “Wear it with pride upon your uniform and never do anything on or off duty that will tarnish the trust of this badge,” he said. The board and community welcomed the firefighters and wished them success in service.
