Mayor updates council on progress across priorities — sidewalks, beautification, airport grants and City Hall relocation

The mayor reported the city received about $375,000 in funding to repair and, where necessary, replace lifted sidewalks downtown; public works said repairs and ADA corner work are nearly complete and public feedback has been positive.
On beautification and entrances, staff described a new Pocatello entry sign and ongoing work to develop a construction-ready plan for the Clark Street interchange; the mayor noted potential grant and salary-savings resources to fund nearby beautification work.
The mayor also reported the airport was awarded approximately $998,002.50 in an Innovative Finance and Asset Concessionaire grant to study a transload facility and that SkyWest has indicated an early morning flight will be added back beginning Nov. 4 if passenger numbers increase.
Deferred-maintenance efforts include 35 miles of pavement rehabilitation, two miles of water mainline work and manhole lining, plus ongoing trail maintenance planning and a potential 1:1 Port of Health Trust grant match for trail repaving. The mayor said the city is developing a Greenway Trail maintenance plan and anticipates repaving priority trail segments this year.
On transparency and budget tools, finance staff reported OpenGov integration is nearly complete and monthly dashboard reporting by the CFO is providing improved visibility; a town-hall meeting on July 20 will feature a demonstration and Q&A on the budget platform.
The mayor reminded the council of a public listening session on July 15 for the City Hall relocation study and noted ongoing work on a Safe Streets grant application for police facility renovation (a previously reported request of ~$25 million).
The mayor closed by encouraging council participation at downtown events and promising follow-up briefing materials and visual examples for zoning and CIP items that will return to future work sessions.
