The Village of Adell Board of Trustees on June 11 adopted a revised permit fee schedule and approved a slate of tobacco, liquor and operator licenses for local businesses.
The board voted unanimously to adopt a revised fee schedule that adds permit fees and a cautionary statement after a motion from Trustee Bill Such and a second from Trustee Brian Parr. The action was taken during the board’s new business agenda item.
Why it matters: the fee schedule change authorizes specific permit charges the village will apply for covered activities and was adopted with no recorded opposition. Shortly after adopting the fee schedule, trustees considered licensing requests from several local businesses, approving each by motion.
Licenses approved included a cigarette and tobacco license and a “Class A” combination liquor and fermented malt beverage license for JAI Marketing LLC (Adell Mini Mart, 127 Edgewood Avenue). Trustee Bill Such moved both motions and Trustee Eric Cline seconded; the board voted to approve both licenses.
The board also approved “Class B” combination liquor and fermented malt beverage licenses for Greg’s Tap (trade name for Debbie Pierce and/or Tom Hammen, 409 Wisconsin Street), Times Remembered Inc. (102 Wisconsin Street) and Sherman Station (American Hotel Adell, 622 Maine Avenue). The motion to approve Sherman Station’s license was moved by Trustee Leighton Holtz and seconded by Trustee Brian Parr; the minutes record that Trustee Bill Such abstained from that particular vote.
The trustees approved operator licenses for numerous applicants representing the licensed establishments, including Jan E. Glander for Sherman Station; William M. Such for Sherman Station (Trustee Such abstained from the recorded vote on his own operator approval); Danielle Miller, Jennifer Marie Olszewski, Bimal Pun Magar, Amy Feyereisen, Therese A. Dowe, Andrew C. Schmitt (Emmanuel Lutheran Church two-year license), Jay Justin Pierce, Ashley Sveom and James Rambousek II for various listed establishments. Most operator-license motions were moved and seconded by trustees and recorded as carried with all voting in favor, with abstentions noted where indicated in the minutes.
Procedural note: the clerk’s minutes list present members as Village President Andy Schmitt and Trustees Leighton Holtz, Brian Parr, Bill Such and Eric Cline; two trustees were absent (Arlo Neumann and Arush Chahal). All license approvals recorded in the minutes used motions and seconds and were carried as recorded.
