Northvale board approves hires, resignations, field trips and routine business

On March 18 the Northvale Board of Education approved a suite of routine agenda items: personnel resolutions P-1 through P-9, curriculum items CI-1 through CI-3, administration items A-1 and A-2, and facilities items BG-1 and BG-2.
Personnel approvals included retroactive appointment of a home-instruction tutor, multiple Special Education Aide hires (pending paperwork), acceptance of resignations and approval of a leave of absence under the collective negotiations agreement for a staff member identified by file number. The Board also approved chaperones and a 20-hour fieldwork observation by a St. Thomas Aquinas College student. The personnel slate passed by roll call vote (5–0).
The Board approved Grade 3 and sixth-grade field activities: a June Grade 3 trip to Liberty Science Center, student council participation at a Northvale Town Council meeting in May, and a sixth grade outreach program at the Meadowlands Environmental Center. The Board approved facility-use applications for community groups subject to insurance and non-interference with school activities.
The Board approved the HIB investigation results discussed in closed session; the HIB resolution recorded one abstention. The meeting then entered executive session at 6:44 p.m. to discuss HIB investigations and personnel matters and reconvened at 7:38 p.m. The public-comment period included thanks from members of the public for the district’s Advanced Math opportunity and a question about whether the academic calendar will be revised because of snow days. The meeting adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
