The Northvale Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions at its April 30 meeting, passing resolutions P-1 through P-13 by unanimous roll-call vote.
Key approvals included appointing Dr. Edward Bertolini as interim principal for the 2026-2027 school year at a rate of $600 per day for 181 days (P-1) and approving Elizabeth Santos as a full-time Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction for July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, at an annual salary of $120,000 (P-2). The board also accepted Brenda Buck’s resignation for the purpose of retirement, effective June 30, 2026 (P-3).
Other personnel actions approved included additions to the substitute teacher list, approvals of chaperones for grade-level trips and events, placements for student fieldwork observations and internships with the Child Study Team, extensions for staff teaching after-school learning acceleration classes funded by ESEA Title I, and hiring of summer custodians at $16.00 per hour for the June 29–Aug. 28, 2026 summer term.
The motions were moved by committee members and approved by roll-call with five yes votes. The board’s personnel approvals include both contracted appointments and short-term stipended work paid from specific funding sources (for example, after-school classes funded by ESEA Title I funds).
