Green Township approves firefighter certification program; Assistant Chief named authorized signatory

The Green Township Committee voted July 21 to participate in the State of New Jersey's voluntary firefighter certification program and to designate an authorized signatory.
Jeremy Willis, assistant chief of the Green Township Volunteer Fire Department, asked the Committee for authorization to classify the department as a Tier 2 training (classroom) facility so members could earn continuing-education units and the program could be extended to Emergency Medical Services personnel. Willis described the training benefits and answered committee questions during the meeting.
By Resolution 2025-118 the Committee authorized participation in the certification program and named Jeremy Willis as the Township’s authorized signatory to sign documents necessary to implement the program. The motion (moved by Margaret Phillips and seconded by James DeYoung) passed on a roll-call vote with DeYoung, Phillips, Rose and Mayor Virginia Raffay recorded as aye votes.
The resolution and the appointment are recorded in the meeting packet. The minutes indicate the Committee will consider any implementing administrative steps in follow-up staff work and in future packet materials.
The action formalizes a training pathway for volunteers and emergency responders in Green Township and allows the department to be used for classroom training under the Tier 2 designation.
