Students and nonprofits announce pollinator garden and a program supporting youth aging out of foster care

S&T students proposed a pollinator garden at Frisco Lake in Schuman Park in partnership with the Parks & Recreation Department. Bunches of Joy, Inc. presented the Just One Yes (J.O.Y.) program to support young adults aging out of foster care.
Abby Gill and student organizations from Missouri University of Science and Technology described a project to establish a pollinator garden of Missouri native plants adjacent to Frisco Lake in Schuman Park, working with the Parks & Recreation Department. Parks Director Floyd Jernigan was listed as the departmental contact for the project.
Nikki Seifert, co-executive director of Bunches of Joy, Inc., and Cass Butler described the Just One Yes (J.O.Y.) Program, a service that supports young adults aging out of foster care through programs that teach prevention, self-sustainability and accountability. Resident Debbie Castle also offered thanks to the council for moving the Centre sales-tax ordinance to an August ballot.
Council offered no formal action on either presentation; both were informational items in the meeting record.
