A resident began the discussion by saying there were “a lot of questions that are unanswered” about the project and asking whether equipment and installation would meet ADA requirements and where an ADA restroom would be located. “It doesn’t seem that whoever I talked to…has any answers for the park,” the resident said, asking for concrete drawings and timelines.
A council member confirmed the city budgeted $30,000 for an engineering survey. “We budgeted 30,” the council member said when asked about the funding. The council member added that the engineering firm has provided a preliminary plan for playground equipment but must return to the public and the parks board to clarify workable spaces and fill in details before final selection and installation.
Staff said the current phase is a survey and planning process; the location suggested for a larger piece of equipment has been tentatively identified but no installation will proceed without council approval. The council clarified that installation would require a motion from a council member after the parks board makes a recommendation.
