The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors on July 8 approved its consent agenda, authorizing payment of bills dated July 8 totaling $902,323.82 and transfers of $32,654.70, and moved forward work on the township's 2026 liquid fuels road program.
During the engineers' report, the township engineer presented Change Order No. 1 for the 2026 liquid fuels road program to adjust the quantities actually installed by the contractor; the change order reduced the overall contract amount. The board voted to approve the change order by voice vote after a motion to consider the engineer's recommendation.
The engineer also recommended payment certificate No. 1 to Harris Blacktopping in the amount of $125,274.15 based on work completed to date; the board approved that payment by voice vote. The chair called for and recorded an "aye" vote and the motions passed.
Those actions were taken as part of routine agenda business; the board did not record extended public discussion on those items during the meeting. The board additionally approved minutes from June 24, 2026.
The approvals keep the road program on schedule and implement contractor adjustments recorded by the engineer. The engineer said the contract reduction reflects field-measured quantities that differed from the original contract amounts.
