Board approves superintendent goals, contracts and accepts retirements; several motions carried

Each motion was moved, seconded and recorded as carrying.
The board accepted the retirement of John Soretta, a technology education teacher since August 1988, effective June 30, 2026. "John has been a technology education teacher since August 1988 for a total of 38 years in Wallingford Public Schools," a trustee said during the motion. The board also accepted the resignation of Daniel Bologna, assistant principal since December 2016, effective July 1, 2026.
Votes on the motions were recorded with members responding "Aye" and the chair stating "Motion carries." Nine members were present and voting at roll call.
The approvals followed an executive session in which the board reviewed superintendent goals, personnel evaluations and multiple contracts. Trustees did not provide additional detail about contract terms during the public meeting.
The board's next scheduled meeting is July 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the district conference room.
