The other changes... we are proposing $50 an hour for those spaces," staff said during the presentation.
Board members stressed the need to at least cover custodial and supervision costs and discussed implementation timing. Several directors recommended not imposing mid‑season increases on current teams; staff suggested implementing the new rates in January 2025 for new bookings and tournaments, with exceptions for current in‑season associations. A director also suggested a flat per‑association startup fee as an alternative funding approach.
The board voted to approve the facility‑use policy and set the effective date to Jan. 1, 2025. Administration and Community Ed will publish the new rates, schedule building supervisors, and coordinate with local sports associations before implementation.
Why it matters: The change alters the district’s cost recovery for community uses of school facilities and may affect expenses for local youth and adult sports associations, tournament organizers and other community users. The board recorded the motion to adopt the policy as carrying 6‑0.
