On June 23 the Quincy CBA voted to allow GBA26-17, permitting the conversion of existing office space at 11-17 Newbury Street to an automotive cosmetic studio offering car wrapping and window tinting. Applicant Lee Zhang told the board the business will not perform mechanical work, painting or chemical processes and that work will be carried out inside the space.
Zhang said the operation will be quiet, will not expand the building or change its exterior, and that cleaning will rely on soap and water with vehicle washing performed at a nearby car-wash facility. He estimated four to five employees and indicated on-site parking for employees and customers in the lot behind the building.
Board members asked about chemical use, employee numbers and parking; Zhang confirmed no hazardous chemicals beyond soap and water would be used and described how vehicles would be pre-cleaned at the neighboring car-wash before being brought inside to apply protective vinyl films.
A motion to allow the petition was made and seconded; members voted in favor. The approval permits the change of use but is subject to standard building and business permit reviews and compliance with any applicable health-and-safety regulations.
