Oakland Public School District selected for state teacher-evaluation pilot, superintendent says

Dr. Gina M. Coffaro, superintendent of Oakland Public School District, told the Board of Education at a Sept. 16 work session that the district was selected to participate in a state teacher-evaluation pilot representing Bergen County.
"Oakland was chosen to participate in a teacher evaluation pilot representing Bergen County as the state looks at how the current model uses SGOs," Coffaro said. She named Mr. Silverstein, Dr. Manganelli, Mr. McQuillen and Ms. Natelli as district participants who were in Trenton that day; she said she will be in Trenton on Thursday for further meetings related to the pilot.
The announcement came after the board returned from an executive session. The minutes state the board entered closed session at 5:33 PM to discuss personnel matters, legal issues, Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB), and contract negotiations under P.L. 1975, Chapter 231 (the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law); the minutes note that information will be released to the public when nondisclosure reasons no longer exist. No substantive details from the executive session were disclosed in the work-session minutes.
Board members present for the work session included Ms. Cooper, Ms. Kilday, Mr. Mazzilli, Mr. Scerbo and Ms. Shelkin. Dr. Coffaro and Annette M.
