The Oakland Board of Education voted to enter an executive session at 5:42 p.m. on Oct. 14, 2025, to discuss personnel matters, legal issues, Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) and contract negotiations.
The motion to move into closed session was made by Ms. Kilday and seconded by Ms. Cooper; upon roll call the motion carried unanimously. The board’s resolution cited P.L. 1975, Chapter 231 (the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law) as the authority permitting the closed discussion and stated that information "will be made available to the public as soon thereafter as possible and once the reasons for nondisclosure no longer exist." The minutes record the resolution in full but do not state the substance of the closed discussion.
The meeting was called to order by Mr. Scerbo at 5:42 p.m., who read the Open Public Meeting announcement explaining notice postings and the board’s limits on commenting about personnel matters in public. The minutes show the board returned from executive session at 6:24 p.m.
No specific personnel, legal findings, settlement terms or contract details are recorded in the public minutes; the board indicated it will release information when appropriate.
