Oakland BOE adopts second readings for entrance age, surveillance and student-safety policies

At the Sept. 16 meeting the Oakland Board of Education approved second readings of a set of policy updates affecting student procedures, health and building operations.
The Board unanimously approved P 5112 (Entrance Age), P&R 5533 (Student Smoking), P 5339.01 (Student Sun Protection), P&R 7441 (Electronic Surveillance in School Buildings), P 8561 (Procurement Procedures for School Nutrition Programs), and P&R 9320 (Cooperation with Law Enforcement Agencies). Ms. Cooper moved the item and Ms. Shelkin seconded; the motion carried with a unanimous vote recorded.
The Board indicated the newly adopted policies and regulations are posted on the district website for public access. The minutes direct readers to the Oakland Board of Education website where all approved policies can be found.
Implementation will follow normal district procedures for policy adoption and posting.
