Village of Adell approves $125,000 loan for fire engine, eases winter parking rules

Village of Adell Board of Trustees members on Dec. 10 approved a $125,000 loan to buy a fire engine and passed a short-term change to overnight parking rules while also approving employee holiday gift cards and a revised citation ordinance.
Trustee Bill Such moved to adopt Resolution No. 2025-06 to borrow $125,000 from the Trust Funds of the State of Wisconsin to purchase a fire engine; Trustee Brian Parr seconded and the motion carried. The loan is payable within 15 years at an interest rate of 6.25 percent, according to the resolution approved by the board.
The board also approved a temporary relief from street-parking restrictions and penalties when no snow is present from Dec. 20, 2025, through Jan. 1, 2026. Trustee Arush Chahal made the motion to enact the temporary relief and Trustee Bill Such seconded; the board voted to carry the motion.
President Andy Schmitt moved to approve $100 gift cards for three village employees: Clerk/Treasurer Kelly Rathke, DPW Director Matthew Risch and DPW crew member Anthony Bliesner. Trustee Brian Parr seconded and the motion carried.
Trustee Leighton Holtz moved to approve a revised ordinance, 2-3-16, "An Ordinance Authorizing Use of Citations," as submitted by the Plan Commission; Trustee Brian Parr seconded and the motion carried. By contrast, President Schmitt moved to table approval of revised Ordinance 10-1-17 (Parking Limits) for further review by the Plan Commission; Trustee Parr seconded and the board carried the motion to table.
In department reports, DPW Director Matthew Risch said the village's new plow and salter are installed and working on the truck. Risch said he will meet with Debbie Pierce on Dec. 12, 2025, to decide whether to resume the Christmas Parade and noted the event could be canceled because of forecasted frigid temperatures. Jim Jentsch, representing the Onion River Wastewater Commission, told trustees the commission has experienced a frozen pump and frozen pipes and will continue to address the problem.
There were no public comments during the meeting. The board set its next meeting for Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., and adjourned after Trustee Arlo Neumann moved to end the session.
