The City of Ottawa Board of Fire and Police Commissioners approved a finalized police lateral transfer list and unanimously approved the minutes of the Jan. 14, 2026 meeting during its Feb. 11 session.
Commissioner Steven Malinsky moved to approve the minutes from Jan. 14, and Tim McTaggart seconded the motion; the board recorded "All ayes." Later in the meeting, Malinsky again moved, and Chairman Kenneth Brown seconded, a motion to approve the finalized police lateral transfer list; that motion also passed with all ayes, according to the minutes.
The minutes note that the lateral transfer list closed on Feb. 5, 2026, with one eligible candidate, Kyle Henson, who completed his oral examination on Feb. 10. The record also states that Henson’s psychological examination is scheduled for Feb. 17 and his medical examination for Feb. 12. The minutes reference a prior approval of Henson’s hire in a letter from Commissioner Ganiere dated Aug. 13, 2025.
No public comments were recorded during the meeting, and there were no items listed under New Business or Correspondence.
The board adjourned at 10:27 a.m.; the minutes were filed by Haley Roalson.
