Public commenter urges enforcement after committee member misses meetings

John Martini told the Audit Advisory Committee on July 9 that, based on his review of meeting dates, a committee member missed more than 30% of meetings in a 12‑month period and therefore “that seat shall be automatically vacated” under the city code. Martini said he had sent a copy of his complaint to the city manager and the city attorney and asked the council to act.
Committee members acknowledged the complaint but said determining whether to remove a member under the absenteeism provision is the responsibility of City Council, not the advisory committee. Chair Siegel and other members asked that the council and city attorney review the letter Martini said he had submitted.
No removal occurred at the meeting; the committee noted the complaint would be handled through the appropriate council or administrative channels.
