Mayor George P. Hutnick called the Borough of Ogdensburg’s March 10 meeting to order and read the notice of compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act.
The council unanimously approved its consent agenda, which included approval of minutes and several resolutions. Among the actions, the council adopted Resolution 35‑2025 to authorize submission of the Ogdensburg Municipal Alliance grant application for fiscal year 2026 (GCSUD grant fund $1,018.00; cash match $254.50; in‑kind $763.50). The resolution notes the borough’s obligation to comply with administrative and audit requirements tied to the grant process.
Council also approved Resolution 34‑2025 authorizing municipal participation in the State Development and Redevelopment Plan cross‑acceptance process under the State Planning Act (N.J.S.A. 52:18A‑196 et seq.) and related State Planning Commission rules. The measure directs the Municipal Land Use Board and Department of Planning to provide staff assistance for the cross‑acceptance process.
In a separate vote, the council adopted Resolution 33‑2025 declaring certain borough property surplus and authorizing sale through the online auction provider Municibid under an established state contract. Borough Attorney Robert McBriar summarized the process as conducted through the state contract and noted that Wallkill had earlier expressed interest in one or more of the three ambulances but is no longer pursuing that interest.
The council approved a facility use application from Marty Macfie, Director of Kaboom, for seasonal use of the municipal park baseball field April 1–Oct. 1, 2025, subject to receipt of roster and insurance. Council members recorded the vote on the consent agenda and related resolutions by roll call; all recorded votes were unanimous with no nays recorded.
Finance staff presented voucher lists across funds, including payments to the Ogdensburg Board of Education ($229,058.50) and Wallkill Valley Regional High School ($94,847.67). The council reviewed water operating and capital payments and accepted the reports as presented.
CFO Mike Marceau told the council that the 2025 municipal budget requires further adjustments and must be introduced on April 14, 2025. He outlined proposed reductions including lower police overtime, removal of Ogdensburg Day from the budget, elimination of the assistant supervisor position for the year and the addition of a seasonal DPW employee.
The meeting closed after a public session and the council adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
