Hardin County commissioners voted July 7 to award the Adler Ditch roadside-ditch and channel improvements contract (GLO contract ending in E596) to Apex Alliance, the low bidder. County purchasing staff presented a full bid tabulation showing multiple bidders and recommended the low bidder.
Staff and a committee member explained the difference between the base bid and the final award amount was due to supplemental/additive items for cleaning and "deep snagging" of channels not accessible with standard equipment. The committee reported the award letter showed $2,014,628.26; the court record also references an award figure expressed as $2,014,006.28 in subsequent dialogue. Commissioners approved awarding to Apex Alliance by voice vote.
Purchasing staff said the award was approximately $736,346 under the project's budget when including additive items; the award includes supplemental work to clear debris and improve drainage flow. The court took the award as presented and proceeded to the next agenda item.
