Mortensen elected board president; Allen named vice president as board affirms ethics code

The Ogdensburg Borough Board of Education elected Mr. Mortensen as board president and Alyssa Allen as vice president during its Jan. 2, 2025 reorganization meeting.
Board Secretary Ivana Gray called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Ogdensburg School library and presided over nominations. After a public roll-call vote, Mortensen received a majority and assumed the presidency; Allen won the vice-presidential vote. Five members were recorded present (Donegan, Mortensen, Allen, Gorsky, Kondik); Ms. Schinn and Mr. Menendez were absent.
The board also adopted the New Jersey School Boards Association Code of Ethics and acknowledged completion of the required ethics training under N.J.A.C. 6:3-1.3 and N.J.A.C. 6A:30. The motion to adopt the code passed by roll call.
The reorganization portion of the meeting included the reading of the Open Public Meetings Act notice by Gray and the administration of oaths to newly elected and re-elected members, including Brendan Donegan, Alyssa Allen, Chris Gorsky and Casey Kondik. The reorganization meeting was adjourned at 6:48 p.m.; the regular session began immediately afterward.
