Borough manager lists upcoming meetings, trainings and grant support; public hearing on zoning set for Sept. 16

Borough Manager Cindy Wells provided a roundup of upcoming meetings, community events and administrative items at the Aug. 27 Union City Borough Council meeting.

Wells said an Erie County planning EMS meeting is scheduled at Fort LeBoeuf on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 7:00 P.M. She announced the Devereaux Day kickoff for park and trail improvements on French Creek and to promote the Erie-to-Pittsburgh trail head is set for Sept. 13 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.; invited officials include Representative Banta, Senator Dan Laughlin’s representative, County Executive Brenton Davis and Jessica Horan of Erie County Planning. Wells said the Union County Community Foundation (UCCF) has been invited and asked Council to attend if possible.

Wells reminded Council that the next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 P.M. and that a public hearing for an amendment to the zoning ordinance will be advertised twice as required; Council will also vote on an amendment to the parking ordinance and that vote will be advertised as required. She also scheduled a meeting with Council members to present health insurance plans for Sept. 25 at 5:30 P.M. at the City Building.

Other announcements included free Community Emergency Response Team training Sept. 27–29 and the Erie County Firefighters Association Safety Awards Dinner hosted by UPMC Hamot on Sept. 27 at 6:00 P.M. Wells said Council opted not to advertise for bids on a towing ordinance and that the Borough will send a letter of support for a PennDOT Charging & Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program application along the U.S. Route 6 corridor.

Wells' announcements were delivered as part of the Borough Manager's miscellaneous updates and included scheduling and outreach items for staff and council follow-up.
