The board later voted to close the executive session and move into the public meeting on a motion by David Armstrong, seconded by Jeffrey Wingfield; that motion passed on a 7–0 roll call with two absences.
The board voted to approve the Nov. 13, 2024 public‑session minutes (moved by Jeffrey Wingfield, seconded by David Armstrong) and the November closed‑session minutes (moved by Dr. Fatimah Turner, seconded by Jeffrey Wingfield); both motions recorded a 6–0 yea tally with one abstention and two absences. The board approved a consent agenda (moved by David Armstrong, seconded by Dr. Fatimah Turner) with the same recorded vote count.
During board comments, Siaka Sherif raised concerns about voting behavior tied to funding and compensation for community workers who provide services to students, saying board members should consider how votes affect the ability to pay district employees. Several members — including Ms. Sueann Gravesande, Dr. Fatimah Turner and Mr. Derrick Henry — emphasized that board members are elected to ask questions and represent constituents; Ms. Johnson stressed the need for unity and urged the public to elect members who prioritize community service over personal agendas.
The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Dr. Turner, seconded by Ms. Gravesande; the roll call recorded seven yeas and two absences.
